The Role with us
As a Senior Data Analyst, you thrive on solving complex problems using large data sets. Your trend analyses and actionable insights enable consistent and data informed decision making by your stakeholders. The primary purpose of this role is to manage the implementation of end to end data and analytical solutions, and generation of business insights through the delivery of actionable intelligence to support business outcomes. There is significant demand within InfraCo for development of data and analytics solutions to support the asset businesses as they grow and as FixedCo evolves towards potential monetisation. This role will provide expert data and analytics skills (Descriptive, Predictive & Prescriptive) for the development of data models, dataflows, dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions as well as supporting more sophisticated solutions including Machine Learning and AI for InfraCo.
This is how you will bring the purpose of your role to life:
1. Data Analytics
  • Extensive experience applying business acumen in data analysis and presentation of results
  • Enable visualisation of data to create a story for the business which identifies opportunities, risks and maximises performance for business areas
  • Leverage your substantial expertise and experience to create robust and automated pipelines to ingest and process structured and unstructured data from source systems into analytical platforms.
  • Proactively propose enhanced system designs/architecture to build reliable data flow, combining analytical batch processing & real-time data flows.
  • Make decisions and implement actions to manage and maintain data and automation platforms through their lifecycles and implement information security controls into the data solution
  • Significantly contribute to the design and build of enterprise analytical solutions by collaborating with business users and technical resources to evaluate and identify new features and architecture that solve challenging problems at scale
  • Drive data quality across our data pipelines and implement system controls for managing data quality supporting, remediating, and updating platforms (DevOps). You take an innovative and creative approach to research data questions and identify strategies to detect and identify the root cause of outliers in data models
  • Contribute and provide input into the data engineering strategy to optimise data platforms. The role will also contribute to the development of best practices within the team.
  • Support data governance through the implementation of business processes and management guidelines which can include strategies for effective storage, sharing and utilisation across the enterprise
2. Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning
  • Scope and design of machine learning solutions to support InfraCo’s strategic objectives
  • Design, Development and Deployment practices for embedding machine learning in production and operationally ready applications
  • Provide AI/ML direction for InfraCo groups & Product Owners.
  • Design and development of complex data-flows and process components that use machine learning, e.g. deep learning models, decisioning systems, advanced interfaces
  • Use your combined knowledge of machine learning theory, maths and algorithms, along with engineering principles and practices to ensure that systems will meet both functional and non-functional objectives
  • Perform testing and debugging of machine learning solutions and applications
  • Monitor and improve solutions over time, incorporating retraining and new features
3. Other skills
  • Knowledge in automation scripting such as Python, PHP
  • Identify productivity improvement opportunities across Telstra’s Data toolsets with an overarching understanding of cross impacts of the involved systems.
4. Stakeholder Management
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders including business leads, Cloud engineering, security, data architects, business analysts and other technical groups to understand business needs, move data from source to target, and design optimal data modes that enable access to data for different types of users
  • Strong relationship management skills and personal authenticity with ability to influence executives and stakeholders to achieve complex outcomes
  • Summarise complex requirements into concise business summaries for Senior Management/ stakeholders communications.
  • Articulate the problem statement, business impact and customer benefits of an initiative in business terms
  • Develop solution scope by partnering with IT vendors and business SME’s
  • Capture deliverables as agile user stories and work with feature teams towards sprint planning.
  • Manage the delivery of work in sprint cycles in Telstra approved agile tools (e.g. Jira & Confluence)
  • Host project retrospectives to continuously improve Data Analytics capabilities of the team.
To be successful in the role, you'll bring skills and experience in:-
  • Advanced skills in SQL (Synapse, Oracle, Postgre) or another commonly used data interrogation language.
  • Advanced Power BI skills (DAX, M-Query) and other commonly used BI visualisation tool (Tableau, QlikView)
  • Good understanding of Azure Cloud Technologies (Data lake, Data Factory, Databricks, Purview, Azure Synapse Analytics)
  • Advanced skills in R & Python
  • Industry certifications such as Azure Data Engineer Associate, Data Analyst Associate, Azure AI Engineer Associate will be an advantage
  • Blend of technology expertise and proven ability to summarise complex issues into concise business summaries for both technical and non-technical stakeholders and Senior Management
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Capacity to influence outcomes, attain results, drive issues to closure, set high standards of performance and pursue challenging goals
  • Broad knowledge of InfraCo customer segments and products and services.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop key relationships, especially across IT/Vendor groups
  • High level negotiation skills
  • Good understanding of agile development practices.
